Air Jordan "Black History Month 2017"

by Henrik Buzzi

Now a staple of the Air Jordan brand, the Black History Month collection celebrates Black heritage, in sport and beyond, and has historically provided financial support to Nike’s Ever Higher Fund, which was created to bring mentorship, sport and all of its benefits to youth and their communities. 2017’s collection takes in two silhouettes from differing ends of the Air Jordan spectrum with inspired renditions of the Air Jordan 1 Retro High and the Air Jordan Trunner.

The iconic Air Jordan 1 High OG has been transformed for this year’s BHM collection. Presented in tonal black premium leather uppers with complementary tonal sole unit and lace dubré, the hardcourt sneakers features removable velcro decals, with a gold swoosh, black swoosh and ‘wings’ logo being removed or added at a wearer’s whim. The Trunner LX is one of the Jordan Brand’s lesser-spotted silhouettes. A dynamic design that is more suited to the gym than the courts, the Trunner LX features woven textile uppers, contrast white leather accents and a speckled gold outersole. With both styles finished with Jumpman and ‘BHM’ branding, the Air Jordan Black History Month pack launches 11t February at selected retailers such as END.
