Hemp shoes from Prague are gaining fans of sustainable fashion

by Henrik Buzzi

Bohempia, a Prague-based producer of hemp footwear, just entered the international market on November 7th through a Kickstarter campaign. Targeting early adopters and eco-conscious consumers, the Bohempia collection is high-quality, sustainable, vegan and ethical versions of classic footwear styles.

"Hemp is a super plant with great sustainable and functional benefits. Our footwear assortment is stylish, unique and responsibly made in the very heart of Europe, " says Bohempia founder Tomas Rohal.

Bohempia has captured the imagination of progressive consumers through eco-friendly footwear not only in its home market of Czech Republic, but also throughout Europe. It is currently the only Czech fashion brand to receive PETA’s endorsement as a vegan brand. The Kickstarter campaign features brand new styles. In addition to the classic sneaker styles in previous collections, Bohempia now offers two boot styles, the Rohan and Milek, that are perfect for urban adventures.

All Bohempia shoes feature 100% hemp canvas uppers and vulcanized rubber outsoles. They are anti-microbial, anti-fungal and hypoallergenic. Hemp has amazing moisture wicking properties that help keep feet dry and comfortable. Bohempia developed a superior insole made of a blend of cork and rubber with arch support that cushions and supports the wearer no matter the terrain. Dyes are REACH-certified which means they pass strict EU environmental safety laws. International fans of Bohempia’s sustainable, vegan and ethically-made sneakers and boots can take advantage of special price offers by signing up to its Kickstarter campaign.
