hanon x Diadora V7000 “Midnight Express”

3 years on from hanon’s first collaboration with Italian sports brand Diadora, for Spring ’17 they present the hanon x Diadora V7000 “Midnight Express”. The V7000 is an original running model straight from Diadora’s 1990 catalogue, and keeping in line with the brand’s heritage, our Diadora V7000 “Midnight Express” is made in Italy in the renowned Montebelluna shoe district Caerano di San Marco. The V7000 is light in weight, and guarantees maximum foot support and comfort, while staying true to it’s original midsole which features a double density EVA called D.D Lite.

Their third edition of the V7000 is a continuation of our “Saturday Special” theme – a public transport service that ran throughout the UK in the 1980’s for football fans. We took some inspiration from the impact of Italian sportswear during this decade and especially Diadora’s use of plush material treatments to both their football boots and legendary tennis shoes. For this project, they have applied a premium application and have up-specced the V7000 utilising Italian production and material selection. As a result, the hanon edition is hand crafted in Italy and features a rich upper of silky pig suede and kangaroo leather, as well as ostrich leather applied to the side stripes.

The color palette of the hanon V7000 is inspired by 80’s trains, and in particular, the InterCity sleeper trains which travelled through the night, and has a predominantly black upper with white detailing and 3M reflective pops throughout. Attention to detail appears by way of an old school multi print on the in sock, whilst dual branding is featured via our flame logo – embroidered on the heel overlays and screened on the tongue patch. Three sets of laces – black, white and dark grey, gold foil labels on the insoles and box, and an additional screened cotton dust bag, and branded tissue paper complete the shoe. The hanon x Diadora V7000 “Midnight Express” will be released in limited numbers only at hanon on April 1st .

HAVEN x adidas Consortium UltraBOOST

Canada is widely known for its cold winters and expansive wilderness, urban life is different and weather in the cities can be temperamental. Sitting close to the country’s Pacific coast, dark rainclouds loom over Vancouver for much of the year. For months on end, contending with the rain is part and parcel of daily life in the city.

Out of the dark clouds emerges an elegant footwear model, practical in function and technical in appearance. Heavy weather and ominous skies combined with a decade’s worth of experience working with technical products provided the inspiration for this triple black UltraBOOST. The reflective strands running through the lacing coupled with the reflective perforated paneling on the Primeknit upper provide a perfect utilitarian accent to adidas’ finest runner. Brand detailing is kept to a minimum resulting in optimal urban camouflage and discreet performance capabilities in any urban environment. In absence of the hallmark UltraBOOST cage, this collaborative effort uses subtle rubberized appliques for understated dual branding. Providing the highest quality products and service has always been part of their DNA. The HAVEN UltraBOOST represents their efforts to embody the pinnacle of what can be achieved. Riccardo Tisci x NikeLab Air Max 97 Mid

Riccardo Tisci believes the next big trend in fashion is honesty. The Italian designer, who has effortlessly mixed sportswear and couture throughout his career, is looking inward — remembering the things that sparked his imagination in the early years of his design. Tisci’s latest collaboration with Nike, the NikeLab Air Max 97 Mid x R.T., expands on this theme. In working on the Air Max 97, Tisci tackles a shoe with a great emotional pull not just for him, but for many of his countrymen as well. “The Air Max 97 had huge influence and impact on Italian culture,” he reflects. “The Air Max 97 is an iconic, young shoe of 90s. At the time I was involved with DJs and music, and in the clubs the people leading the big waves were wearing Air Max. That period has a lot of history.  It was the first meeting of sportswear and fashion.” The mid-top look also reflects the designer’s longstanding interests in basketball and skateboarding. The black leather, and contrast white stitching, which gives the shoe a new structure conveys a mature sophistication. The NikeLab Air Max 97 Mid x R.T releases March 23 at selected retailers such as YME.

Reebok Club Workout – size? Exclusive

Creating a hybrid classic out of two of the brands most popular styles, Reebok combine the upper of the Workout Clean together with the midsole unit of the Club C to present the new Club Workout. This first release of the brand new silhouette will only be exclusively available at size?. As demonstrated in Reeboks recent brand film, this whole culture we’re a part of revolves around the idea of different elements being brought together to create something new. Throughout the 90’s via a myriad of different musical genre’s, everyday sportswear products designed with function at the forefront found themselves re-appropriated, adopted by cultural movements. By the end of the decade Reebok Classics felt much more at home nestled under a pair of Levi’s rather than in the gym in an aerobics class.This concept is key behind the development of the new Club Workout. It brings together two established styles from the archive and remixes them ready for a new generation. The size? Exclusive Reebok Classic Club Workout exclusively at size? Om March 24.

OTH x Vault by Vans Deli Edition Mid Skool ‘77 LX

When tourists come to Montreal they’ll seek out a Montreal Smoked Meat Sandwich, and with good reason. The Montreal Smoked Meat sandwich was brought to North America by the Jewish immigrant community in the early 1900s. It soon spread out from Montreal and made its way south of the border, gaining notoriety along the way, but has remained emblematic of the city’s cuisine and diverse makeup. The fact that the iconic dish has become intertwined with Montreal’s identity, after being brought here by immigrants, speaks to the city’s multiculturalism and its history as a place where immigrants from around the world have come to settle. The Vault by Vans x OTH Deli Edition Mid Skool ‘77 LX was dreamt up as an homage to the Montreal smoked meat sandwich (which we’re going to go ahead and call the best sandwich of all time). The shoe features a lightly distressed, rich burgundy leather upper; a premium leather heel counter and toe box in a lighter shade of burgundy; and, of course, the classic Mid Skool ‘77 back window that showcases Vans branding. The distressed leather, and different shades of burgundy, harken back to the heart of a smoked meat sandwich - and the classic “lean, medium, or medium fat” conundrum - with a rye bread-inspired brown leather jazz stripe and gum tab at the back of the outsole delicately holding everything together. We’d have been remiss to offer up a Deli Edition without mustard, so each shoe comes outfitted with Vans’ iconic waffle sole in a deep mustard yellow. Each pair comes with three sets of laces: a mustard yellow, a mayonnaise white, and a coleslaw green. Finally, the shoes feature limited edition pickle footbeds with Vans OTH branding. Releasing 18. I Love Ugly x Onitsuka Tiger Colorado 85 "North & South Pack"

The North Pack takes inspiration from the North Island’s unique characteristics. The grey accents, and red speckle and stitching used on the heel visually reference the vibrancy of the active volcanoes and rugged, wild coastlines. The North Island, the world’s 14th largest island, consists of wild terrain, majestic evergreen native forests, active volcanic thermal areas, rugged west coast beaches and island sanctuaries immersed within sprawling landscapes.

The South Pack is inspired by the South Island’s captivating wild beauty. The green speckle and stitching represent the theatrical green landscapes across vast open farmlands. The black leather is inspired by the daring glacial valleys and towering Southern Alp mountains, making it one of the most visually stunning places in the world. The South Island, the world’s 12th largest island, consists of dramatic and dense green scenic views and its famous Southern Alps. There are more than 18 alpine peaks that surpass 3000 metres (9800 feet). The Colorado Eighty-Five Mt Samsara stays close to the technical roots of the original Colorado launched in 1985 by offering comfort and flexibility with the flex canals as well as the extended lateral tread at the forefoot. ach shoe comes wrapped in high metallic survival blanket and with a limited edition collaboration publication. United Arrows & Sons x Adidas Originals

In a new collaborative partnership, United Arrows & Sons have joined up with adidas Originals on an exclusive collection of footwear and apparel. working closely with up & coming typographer MIKITYPE on a text graphic which reads "United Arrows & Sons" and "adidas Originals" in Katakana. In apparel, the label presents two colorways of the adidas track suit, pairing a classic full-zip track top with a tapered track pants, featuring MIKITYPE's graphics integrated into each garment's 3-stripes details and across the track top's chest. Finishing touches include adidas trefoil branding on the left chest and thigh and MIKITYPE branding detail on the rear of each garment. An accompanying footwear release then applies United Arrows & Sons' understated aesthetic to one of adidas' most coveted contemporary models, the NMD_CS1. The shoe features a full textured Primeknit construction in black, placed atop the NMD's signature Boost tooling with EVA plug inserts. MIKITYPE's typography then appears on the shoe's forefoot plug, heel straps and medial quarter, finished with a co-branded insole. The result is a striking blend of classic and contemporary style, true to the aesthetic of United Arrows & Sons and the pioneering spirit of adidas Originals. Behind the design of the atmos x Nike Air Max 1

Hailing from Tokyo, Japan, what some call the global epicenter of sneaker collecting, atmos has had a long standing relationship with Nike. Working on their first collaboration back in 2001, one of atmos most revered collaborations was the elephant print and jade accented Air Max 1 released in 2007. Nearly ten years later, the design would go on to win Nike’s Vote Back campaign during Air Max Day 2016 for a return as part of this year’s Air Max Day celebration. Thanks to the collective voice of the community, the Air Max 1 atmos elephant was voted back amongst 100 other Air Max icons.

Titolo x adidas Consortium NMD XR1 Trail "Celestial"

Titolo has looked to the region’s dramatic outdoors to create a sneaker inspired by alpine snow zones and hidden glacial phenomena. The Titolo x adidas Consortium NMD XR1 Trail "Celestial" reflects this landscape via a loose gauge pattern in the sneaker’s Primeknit upper and perforated leather details, while the asymmetric overlay resembles a snow coated ridge in the sunlight. Mountainous patterns are further echoed in the textured structure of the BOOST™ midsole. The outsole, the only part of the shoe that is not white, summons the image of an exposed glacier.  Millions of years in age, wondrous, translucent and impossible to explore beyond the surface, it is a smart and evocative source of inspiration for the rarely-seen underside of a sneaker. Saucony Shadow 5000 "Crackled Leather" pack

Saucony continues to push the boundaries of luxury retro-sportswear with their latest duo of Shadow 5000s. Dubbed the 'Crackled Leather' pack, this delivery includes a clean off-white color scheme, as well as a deep maroon rendition. Each sneaker features a predominately lush suede upper contrasted with a tonal cracked leather toe for an added luxurious touch. END. x Reebok Insta Pump Fury “Black Salmon”

Arriving to the sneaker market over twenty-five years ago, the Instapump technology revolutionised the time-honoured tradition of lacing, with the futuristic Instapump Fury arriving in the mid-1990s to revitalise the concept ready for the next generation of sneaker enthusiasts. Inspiration for the collaboration is drawn from one of Mother Nature’s most intriguing creations, salmon. This majestic animal’s instinct for survival, teamed with the incredible journey it undertakes during its lifetime, has seen it surrounded by a rich web of myth and folklore around the world.

The upper of the END. x Reebok Instapump Fury ‘Black Salmon’ looks to replicate the uniquely textured surface of the fish’s skin; a premium suede embossed to resemble the overlapping design of fish scales. A ballistic nylon cage in coordinating black delivers the innovative technology that saw the silhouette become a legend. Highlights arrive in the form of the distinctive pink tone of the salmon’s flesh, sitting as a flash to the outsole along with a premium suede to the heel panel. The pink tone extends to the neoprene boot within, mimicking the flesh’s concealment beneath the sleek scaled surface.

The darkly textured upper stands atop a speckled midsole, its subtle tonalities a reference to the sparkling waters the salmon calls home. 24 Kilates Bangkok

What do you do, when you find yourself in the big city of Bangkok?  You go to 24 Kilates of course, and that’s what we did. A short cab ride from the busy Sukhumvit Road can take some time, due to the heavy, ruthless Bangkok traffic. Thank God for air condition!  24 Kilates stands out in this huge wooden square, in what seems like a residential neighborhood. The shop looks really good with a lot of nice details, such as the sneaker vault and gold bars.

We caught up with Oakley and and had a nice sneaker chat.

When did the store open?
The store opened up in 2016, the good folks over at 24K Barcelona came over and did their part in setting up the shop.

Who comes to the shop ?
Mainly tourists and locals who wants something special.  Because the store is off the main shopping streets, you need to know where you are going to find it.

Favourite sneaker at the moment ?
Any diadora really.

What drop are you Looking forward to?
Exited for the Reebok OG , refreshing amongst all the NMD, Yeezy and Boost drops.

All time favorite colab?
Obviously a 24K colab, but hard to say just one, because there has been so many good ones.

Oakley pulls down the N9000 "Toro" from the wall as an example.  A black calf-hair upper rides atop a red and white sole unit, complete with tiny horns upon the lace eyelets, leather laces, and an embossed heel. The sneakers are Made in Italy and are limited to just 300 pairs.

Time goes extremely fast (and furious) in Bangkok, so after the chat with Oakley  I quickly copped a pair of Packer x Asics Gel Lyte V “Scary Cold” and a 24 Kilates x X-large tee before I dipped back into the flowing traffic of cars and bikes. Next stop; the rooftop swimming pool. Enjoy your frozen weather back home!

Concepts x New Balance 990v2 “Tyrian”

The 990v2 “Tyrian” is the first launch of several Concepts x New Balance MADE collaborations for 2017 that offer the sneaker connoisseur an exclusive, premium quality and crafted silhouette with luxury-inspired stories. In ancient times, garments dyed using Tyrian Purple, a hue of purple that was made through extracting a natural purple dye from sea snails, were extremely expensive and reserved for royalty due to the extreme time intensive process of collecting the snails and extracting the dye. The Concepts x New Balance 990v2 “Tyrian” is done in full purple, premium suede with perforated details and reflective hits on the N logo underlay and heel tab. Concepts branded lace aglets, insert and tortoiseshell lace lock round out the premium details. The 990v2 “Tyrian” will be released on March 10 exclusively at Concepts.

Patta x Diadora S8000

Patta and longtime collaborating partner Diadora return with a brand new project for spring season, following up on the recent V.7000 Pack. This new collaboration project consists of Patta's take on Diadora's iconic S.8000 runner silhouette, paired with an original Diadora 90s archive Tracksuit, both made in Italy. The S.8000 model receives a colorful make up in a medieval blue and gray colorway, utilising premium suede and classic nylon mesh materials. The shoes are further accented with hits of aqua blue on the lace stay and side panels, and orchid purple on heel tab, while mustard brown is used for striping detail. The shoes are finished with branding from both Diadora and Patta on the tongue, heel counter and sockliner. Each pair comes with 2 sets of additional shoelaces. The Diadora x Patta is set to release at Patta March 11.

Slam Jam x Asics Gel-Mai "Angle"

Asics Tiger and Slam Jam team up again for a new collaboration in restyling the iconic Gel-Mai. The Gel-Mai was first released back in the late-90s and featured a head-turning construction that completely ditched the iconic Asics Stripes for a one-piece futuristic upper. With this new collaboration Slam Jam has worked on two color combinations, two different geometrical patterns: black and blue, green and violet. The Green Violet one is a Slam Jam exclusive, while the black and blue version is now available at selected retailers such as 24 Kilates.
